What The Exercise Covers

A case study of a new starter and her first morning of on-job training. Delegates are asked to examine and analyse the ‘training session’ and establish the strengths/ weaknesses of the trainer’s approach.

The case study can be used as a stand-alone exercise in a mini training session or as an ice breaker at the start of a Train The Trainer workshop. It highlights faults such as lack of preparation, giving irrelevant information, inappropriate use of jargon, lack of structure, training in the wrong order and a range of other issues. Full set up, briefing and debrief instructions are provided.


Allow up to one hour to complete and debrief.
