“It saved me so much time”
“This is really timely for an ILM course I’m running at the moment for an NHS Trust (covering coaching, negotiating, managing performance). I can just adapt them and it’ll save me a lot of time.”
“Loads of useful exercises here.”
“I'm sure I'll be looking in here, next time I've got a new course to design”

TRAIN THE TRAINER
The Development Need
From our discussions on Thursday 18th September, a development need has arisen to provide ‘Train The Trainer’ skills development for 12 technical specialists. This would enable them to train Account Managers to increase their knowledge in technical specialisms, thus improving the level of service to end clients.
The Specialists also need to develop skills in designing clear, informative handouts describing the technical knowledge/processes, for subsequent ‘uploading’ to the company intranet.
A Way Forward
The following approach breaks up the solution into three parts:
·
Developing skills to present to an audience (1-way communication).
·
Developing skills to train an audience (2-way communication).
·
Practising the skills acquired, and getting feedback.
Aspects of writing informative handouts would be included in the second development day.
Steps in Our Approach
Step 1 Meet with a selection of the target audience (and any Sponsors of the project) to:
·
Appreciate the nature of delegates involved e.g. their backgrounds, working culture, and to help ‘break the ice’ prior to the event.
·
Further establish the specific need/points of emphasis for the development event.
·
Understand the typical technical knowledge/process required to be trained in by the Specialists.
Step 2 Design a two-day ‘Train The Trainer’ workshop. Please find draft learning objectives overleaf.
Pre-course work will be assigned for delegates, centred around:
·
A business topic for practice presentation on day 1.
·
A technical skill they can impart on day 2 to fellow delegates, and receive feedback.
Step 3
Deliver the two-day workshop in two hits – 6 delegates per workshop.
Step 4 Delegates undertake post-course assignment to design a training session to deliver at follow-up day.
Step 5 Host a follow-up half day per group of 6 delegates, around 6 weeks later, centred around:
·
Recap of models covered on workshop.
·
Delivery of delegates’ post-course assignment and provide feedback.
Draft Learning Objectives
At the end of the two-day workshop, delegates will be able to:

Costs
£400 per day for 1 delegate, £850 per day for 2-5 delegates plus expenses (travel plus possible (budget) accommodation, depending on location). Costs exclude any venue costs (hire of rooms / catering) or equipment (e.g. Powerpoint projector).
Prior to delivery of the workshop, we would host a telephone meeting with you to establish the nature of the delegate’s roles, their strengths and development areas and any areas of the course you would like us to emphasise.
