Training Course Overview:

 

  • The aim of the disciplinary skills training course is to distill the disciplinary procedure into easy to follow, manageable steps. Delegates will have a better understanding of the operation of employment law (without getting into too much depth), know when the disciplinary procedure is the best course of action and be able to prepare and deliver a professional disciplinary interview.
  • A variety of training methods are used on the training course, including syndicate and group discussion, exercises, demonstrations and role play.  
  • A feature of the training course is the use of a Knowledge/Skill Checklist - a list of the knowledge and skills being developed. The participant self-rates at the start and finish of the day, to establish the extent to which they have benefited from the training course. This also gives them, and their line manager, further analysis of their strengths, highlighting any further development needs.
  • Delegates will be supplied with full support documentation, supplied in spiral bound format.
  • A mini exhibition of interpersonal skill books, additional handouts and ‘hints and tips’ sheets will be provided in the training room, for delegates to visit during ‘down-time’ e.g. at breaks.
  • Prior to delivery of the disciplinary skills training course, we would host a telephone meeting with you to establish the nature of the delegate’s roles, find out more about your organisation’s disciplinary policy and understand any points for emphasis on the course.

About the Trainer

 

Bryan Edwards, Founder of ABC Training Solutions Ltd, has over 20 years experience of interpersonal and managerial skills training in commercial and non-commercial organisations. Bryan is a Graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Bryan personally delivers all the training.

 

Bryan travels extensively across the U.K. to deliver training, as well as delivering in local areas such as Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Wales and the West Midlands.

 

Costs

 

£270 per day for 1 delegate, £550 per day for 2-4 delegates, £690 for 5-8 delegates plus VAT and expenses (travel plus possible (budget) accommodation, depending on location). Costs exclude any venue costs (hire of rooms / catering) or equipment (e.g. Powerpoint projector).

DISCIPLINARY SKILLS

The Employment Act 2008 places greater emphasis on the employer to ensure disciplinary issues are dealt with in accordance with new statutory procedures and guidelines.  The A.C.A.S. Code of Practice states: "Those responsible for using and operating the disciplinary rules, including managers at all levels, should be trained for the task".

This course is intended for any manager or supervisor who may be tasked with carrying out an internal disciplinary investigation and interview to build confidence and ‘de-mistify’ the process into easy-to-follow steps. Discover how to structure an effective and easy-to-implement disciplinary process that adheres to UK employment disciplinary procedure, how to conduct a disciplinary investigation and how to prepare for, and deliver, the disciplinary interview.
